"This happened many years ago, but I'll never forget it. We were a military family stationed in England, living through the coldest winter they'd had in eighty years. Ice covered the ground for two weeks at Christmas time, preventing any mail delivery from home in the U.S. At the end of the first week of January, I was pushing my little ones in the buggy over to the post office, heading toward the commissary, agonizing over what I could buy with the little grocery money I had. Payday wasn't for another nine days. Imagine my joy when I arrived at the post office and found a large box of cheese and sausage from Hickory Farms which had been sent by my in-laws as a Christmas gift! We enjoyed that box of goodies so much more because it came at a time when it was desperately needed.
