Hickory Farms Moments
"My family has a 25 year tradition of having Hickory Farms during the Christmas holidays. We call it our cheese supper and it just wouldn't be Christmas without a Hickory Farms Beef Summer Sausage and cheese ball! During the past holiday season the Hickory Farms went fast because we had company over for our traditional cheese supper. Around the first of January, my husband and I decided to reorder and enjoy a private cheese supper of our own long after company and kids were gone. Needless to say, we had no idea how wonderful this supper would be and how important a Hickory Farms Beef Summer Sausage would be to us.
On Jan. 27 and 28 the entire state of Kentucky was hit by a catastrophic ice storm. Two inches of ice brought down trees, power lines, phone lines, and the isolation set in. We were stranded for 4 days without ANYTHING except what we had in our house. Two huge trees had fallen across our driveway blocking us in but it really didn't matter because the entire countystate was without power. Roads were impassable and without electricity stores couldn't even open their doors.
Suddenly our wood stove of long ago became our main source of heat and as people fled in droves to other states in search of food and electricity my husband and I decided that it was indeed time to enjoy that long awaited private cheese supper. Little did we know that it would be one of the BEST meals we've ever had and did so many times while we camped out in front of the woodstove waiting for the power to come back on. Finding our Hickory Farms box in the pantry was like finding a forgotten Christmas present!
