History of Black Friday

Love it or hate it, Black Friday is here to stay. But have you ever wondered how it got its start? Occurring the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday has become one of the biggest shopping days of the entire year. Hordes of people flock to the stores and browse online to find the perfect gifts for family, friends and loved ones. But when did Black Friday start to actually become a tradition?

Black Friday Online Shopping

In recent years, online shopping has become increasingly popular on Black Friday as well as Cyber Monday, the Monday directly following Thanksgiving weekend. If you choose to stay in, keep warm and do your shopping from the comfort of your couch, we applaud you. Don’t forget to browse everyone’s favorite gift baskets from Hickory Farms, and maybe even order something for yourself if you’ve shopped up an appetite! Our smoked cheddar cheese and Italian salami make for a great post-shopping snack. Hey, no one ever said browsing the Web didn’t make you hungry! Happy holidays, and we wish you the best of luck with the start of Black Friday shopping!

And, if you plan to venture out to the mall, stop by one of our local Hickory Farms stores or kiosks.
