Baked apples with cinnamon
A perennial favorite that you are sure to enjoy is a comforting classic baked apples recipe. The specially selected and hand-packed Fuji Apples featured in our fruit gift basket are a great option for this dish that can be served as a snack or dessert. Remove the cores of the apple to a half inch before the bottom and make the holes 1 inch wide. In a bowl, combine ¼ cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ¼ cup chopped raisins and ¼ cup chopped pecans. Place apples in a baking pan, fill apples with mixture and dot apples with ¼ tablespoon butter. Add boiling water to the pan without covering the apples completely and bake apples in a 375°F pre-heated oven for 30 to 40 minutes until the apples are soft and the inviting aroma of apple cinnamon begins to fill your home.
Our fruit gift box varieties are filled with delicious Red D'Anjou and Crown Comice pears that make the perfect foundation for a poached pears recipe. Simply combine 1 cup sugar, 3 cups red wine, one cinnamon stick and four whole cloves into a pan and bring to a boil while stirring to melt the sugar. Add pear halves, reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes. Then, remove pears, cloves and cinnamon and continue cooking wine and sugar mixture until liquid becomes syrupy. Return pears to pan and cook for an additional five minutes while spooning syrup over pears.
