Legend has it that one of our lead cheese makers was in a diner
in Wisconsin, having lunch on the road, doing research
on local dairy farms.
He was tired, as it had been an uneventful trip.
That is until he ordered a piece of homemade apple pie with a
slice of cheddar. The pie was unspectacular. But the Cheddar!
A creamy texture with rich, savory flavor and just the right twang.
He tracked down the local farmer credited with the recipe and brought
home one of our signature tastes, and an American favorite.
And yes, we named it after the pie it arrived on.
